Oasis SLAM dynamic pricing after furious backlash from fans unable to get their hands on comeback reunion tour tickets – and reveal two extra Wembley shows

Oasis has hit out at Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system after a furious backlash from fans – as they announced two extra Wembley shows.

The band said they were ‘not aware’ that dynamic pricing would be used and that the ‘execution of the plan did not meet expectations’.

Oasis revealed on social media tonight they would now also be performing at Wembley on September 27 and 28 next year.

Tickets for upcoming dates will be sold via a staggered, invitation-only ballot and be open to fans who missed out over the weekend.

Oasis said of Saturday’s chaotic ticket sale: ‘As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.

Noel and Liam Gallagher proved they had buried the hatchet on their 15-year feud as they met up this summer to pose for a photo together to mark Oasis’ comeback tour

‘While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band’s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations.

‘All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve.’

Band members Liam and Noal Gallagher said in their statement they were not aware of the decision to use dynamic pricing but instead the strategy was chosen in priormeetings between ‘promoters, Ticketmaster and their management’.

Dynamic pricing works by increasing the prices of tickets in line with a demand – similar to an Uber journey or seats on a plane.

However, the system, which is designed to deter touts, has been criticised by fans who were shocked by the cost of tickets.

Some waited for up to eight hours to get to the front of the queue on Saturday only to be presented with standing tickets costing more than £350 – far above the expected £150.

Others were kicked off Ticketmaster before they were even able to make a purchase and were accused of ‘being a bot’.

Announcing the new shows on social media this afternoon, Oasis wrote: ‘Two extra Wembley Stadium shows have been added due to phenomenal demand.

‘Tickets will be sold by a staggered, invitation-only ballot process.

‘Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many UK fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster. More details to follow.’

However some fans, who paid over £350 for their tickets, have reacted angrily to the announcement.

One person posted on X: ‘Hope they’re being charged £400 a ticket for the same seats as me!

‘#Dynamic pricing and I obvioulsy paid way more than people in the ballot who are probably sat next to me as well.’

Another person commented: ‘Need to scrap all tickets and start again – is the only way it can be fair.

‘I was at the checkout for Heaton Park Fri 11th and the site kicked me back behind 230,000 people, need to start again.’

However, others have jumped at the chance to get another chance to apply for tickets.

One person posted on X: ‘Literally everything cross for this… can’t go through another day like Saturday. So stressful.’

Another added: ‘Would be amazing to get ballot. It’s mine and my boyfriend’s anniversary next week and he was so gutted.

‘We spent eight hours trying to get tickets. Would love to surprise him.’

Around 14 million people spent Saturday morning waiting in lengthy online queues in the hope of securing a spot at one of next year’s shows.

Emma Munnelly, queuing for tickets since 8:30am on Saturday, told MailOnline that afternoon she had spent three hours waiting in a queue and a waiting room queue to buy tickets for herself, her husband and her daughter.

She said her daughter ‘has been desperate to see Oasis and couldn’t believe her luck when they announced they were touring’.

‘Expected to pay £148.50 for standing at Manchester, absolutely disgusted that when we had the chance of purchasing the tickets, Ticket Master had increased them to £355 each.

‘This was unaffordable and devastating for my daughter.’

‘It is such an unaffordable cost for many families and it should not be allowed to happen,’ she said.

Catherine Kremer said she had finally reached the front after four hours of queuing and now ‘can’t even buy a ticket ‘whatever option is chosen’, with in-demand tickets priced at £358.10 to stand.

Heidi Tringe told MailOnline she got up at 3:45am local time in Montpelier, USA – and was horrified to discover the ‘In Demand’ prices when she finally got to the front of the queue, three and a half hours later.

‘The Ticket Options that were showing on the screen were the ridiculously Ticketmaster-inflated ‘dynamic pricing’ tickets…

‘I attempted clicking on various buttons and ‘Find Tickets’ to no avail for the last 30 minutes. I finally hit refresh – nothing changed. I hit refresh a few more times and then it said I had lost my place in line and could rejoin the queue.

‘This is so maddening, heartbreaking. If companies are going to have a monopoly on tickets, inflate the prices well above the prices the band has set, they damn well better have systems in place that can handle fan demand. Something needs to be done, both in Europe and in the US.’

Celebrities also hit out at the Ticketmaster fiasco with famous faces such as Dan Walker and Victoria Derbyshire also vying for seats to the reuninion shows.

TV and radio presenter Dan Walker posted on X: ‘There has got to be a fairer, simpler, more efficient way of selling tickets that isn’t so open to touts, scammers, resellers & bots. #Oasis

‘In the queue, out of the queue, refresh / don’t refresh, wait in line, back of the line, accused of being a bot… timed out.’

He added in a separate post: ‘How many times have you refreshed Ticketmaster?’

BBC journalist Victoria Derbyshire was also left frustrated by the booking process.

She posted at 11.23am with a screenshot of Ticketmaster telling her she was in the queue: ‘Has anyone actually managed to get a ticket today yet?’

BREAKING NEWS: Watchdog launches probe into Ticketmaster over Oasis concert ticket sales

The competition watchdog has launched an investigation into Ticketmaster over Oasis concert ticket sales, it has announced.

The Competition and Markets Authority said fans ‘may not have been given clear information about ticket prices’.

It is set to investigate whether Ticketmaster has engaged in ‘unfair commercial practices’, prohibited under consumer law, and whether fans were given clear and timely information on the Uber-style ‘dynamic pricing’ used to set the cost of tickets.

Watchdogs are also set to assess whether concert-goers were pressured into buying the tickets within a short space of time and at a higher price than they thought they were going to pay.

The ticket-selling juggernaut is being investigated over its use of Uber-style ‘dynamic pricing’, which adjusted the prices of tickets as demand for them surged

This can be done via the regulator’s CMA Connect platform.

An investigation being launched does not mean Ticketmaster has definitively broken consumer law.

But the watchdog says that dynamic pricing is becoming ‘increasingly prevalent’ in live music and sporting events, and may breach consumer protection regulations in ‘certain circumstances’.

The CMA may also examine whether the practice breaches competition law – as the majority of tickets for the gigs were sold through Ticketmaster alone.

The call for evidence closes in two weeks, on September 19 at 5pm.

CMA chief executive Sarah Cardell said: ‘It’s important that fans are treated fairly when they buy tickets, which is why we’ve launched this investigation.

‘It’s clear that many people felt they had a bad experience and were surprised by the price of their tickets at checkout.

‘We want to hear from fans who went through the process and may have encountered issues so that we can investigate whether existing consumer protection law has been breached.

‘The CMA also welcomes the Government’s recent announcement that it will consult on measures to provide stronger protections to consumers in the ticketing sector, wherever they buy their tickets.

‘This has been a priority focus for the CMA for several years, having previously taken enforcement action and recommended changes to improve the secondary tickets market.

‘We are committed to working closely with Government to tackle the longstanding challenges in the ticket market.’

Representatives for Ticketmaster and Oasis have been contacted for comment.

Oasis has already sought to distance themselves from the dynamic pricing row – claiming they were ‘not aware’ the controversial price-setting scheme would be used to punt tickets to their reunion tour.

In an unprecedented statement, a representative of the band said yesterday: ‘As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.

This is a breaking story, more to follow.

Could dynamic ticket pricing fiasco spark yet another Oasis feud? Fears row could drive wedge between Gallagher brothers as Liam faces bulk of backlash

Oasis fans are facing new anxiety over whether the truce between Liam and Noel Gallagher will hold for next year’s reunion gigs after a ticketing debacle backlash.

Sources have reportedly suggested younger sibling Liam is suffering more backlash after many wannabe buyers either failed to secure tickets amid 11-hour queues last Saturday or were faced with ‘dynamic pricing’ doubling of fees.

Oasis last night announced two extra dates after what they called ‘unprecedented demand’.

And the Britpop group, which split in 2009, blamed their managers for the dynamic pricing fiasco – saying they were ‘not aware’ the system would be used.

Oasis said the approach was chosen during meetings between Ticketmaster, promoters and their management.

A meme widely shared during fans’ attempts to buy tickets last Saturday had a mock-up image of the Ticketmaster website saying: ‘Unfortunately, Oasis have split up while you were in the queue.’

Both brothers have accounts on X, formerly Twitter, although Liam – who has 3.8million followers to Noel’s 1.4million – has tended to be more prolific in responding to people online.

Ahead of the confirmation of the comeback last week, he hit back at critics who claimed they were only getting back together because they were broke by posting: ‘Your attitude stinks.’

Yet his last contribution on the social media site came last Thursday, sharing details of three gigs next year at Heaton Park in Manchester on July 16, Wembley Stadium in London on July 30 and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on August 12.

The Sun has now quoted a source close to the band as saying: ‘Liam is getting the brunt of the backlash and is being called out by fans.

‘Noel and Liam have discussed what’s happened and have asked their teams to see if they can change the Ticketmaster policy. They want to look after their fans and get as many to their concerts as they can, for the price they marketed the tickets at.’

Liam suffered particular criticism last week when an old tweet of his mocking Noel for solo gig prices resurfaced and was widely shared online.

nger brother had slammed Noel in for charging $350 (£266) for a gig in the US, writing in September 2017: ‘350 dollars to go and see rkid in USA what a c*** when will it all stop as you were LG x.’

The post was shared with comments such as ‘This hasn’t aged well’ and ‘Well this is evergreen’.

And a new backlash targeting Liam from fans online has included one poster writing: ‘Gone very quiet @liamgallagher since the dynamic pricing stuff.’

Another directly asked him: ‘Was it Ticketmaster or the band who agreed to dynamic pricing? Hope it wasn’t you guys.’

Bookies have now put the odds of the new tour being cancelled in advance at just 3-1, albeit 1-2 to go ahead – while saying it was evens to be scrapped after the first gig.

Colm Phelan, from Casinos.com, said: ‘We know just exactly how turbulent Noel and Liam’s relationship is and it probably wouldn’t take much to reignite the spat between them.

Louis Rees-Zammit reveals what Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co messaged him after he was cut by the Chiefs – as he claims he’s now playing in his best position with Jaguars

After Louis Rees-Zammit was cut by the Chiefs and signed by the Jaguars to their practice squad in pursuit of his NFL dream, he revealed what Patrick MahomesTravis Kelce, and others messaged him upon departing Kansas City.

Rees-Zammit was thought to have done enough to make the Chiefs 53-man roster despite being a newbie to football. He did not make the large cut, but has home a new home in Jacksonville.

The longtime rugby player played multiple positions during training camp with the Chiefs to not only find out where he best fit, but to show his versatility to try and make the regular-season roster.

Now, he’s exclusively playing wide receiver, Rees-Zammit’s preferred position, in Jacksonville.

Yet, he is taking the advice from some of the NFL’s best with him as he plays away from Kansas City.

‘I had so many messages from all of them wishing me luck. I’ve been playing the game for three months,’ Rees-Zammit said of the messages from Kelce, Mahomes, and others, per talkSPORT.

‘They just said stick at it and keep working on what you can work on and eventually everything will work out.’

‘They didn’t know that I was going to change positions and stuff. So in terms of that advice, then probably not. But it’s more, I’m a very hard worker and I really want this.’

Despite no longer being a teammate of Kelce and Mahomes, Rees-Zammit is still in pursuit of playing in his first NFL game in the same year where he started playing American football.

Louis Rees-Zammit lands second chance in NFL after Kansas City Chiefs released him

Former rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit has agreed to join the Jacksonville Jaguars – two days after the Kansas City Chiefs released him.

The Welshman will join the practice squad and has been listed as a wide receiver by the franchise after joining the Chiefs as a running back.

Rees-Zammit, who is believed to be joining on a one-year contract, had cemented himself as a superstar in rugby before his bombshell announcement this year that he was stepping away from the sport.

‘So happy to be here,’ Rees-Zammit said on Instagram, alongside a picture of him putting pen to paper for the Jaguars. ‘Thanks for the opportunity. It’s go time.’

And he appeared to reference his status as a running-back by placing the ‘eyes wide open’ emoji next the ‘WR’ letters on a screen displaying his name and position.

Scottie Scheffler’s caddie made an unbelievable amount of money in 2024 – more than most PGA Tour pros – but can you guess how much?

Scottie Scheffler had an incredible year on the links, with his dominance reverberating around the golf world.

Scheffler took home around $62million in prize money this year, by far the most of day golfer with the several events he won.

And if there is one person who has benefitted the most from Scheffler’s success, beyond himself, it is his caddie, Ted Scott.

Scott has earned an astounding $5million this season from just being the caddie for the No 1 golfer on the planet.

Scott won $2.6million from Scheffler’s victories before the FedEx Cup playoffs, and added $2.5million to his yearly total after Scheffler won $25million himself, per Golf Digest.

Scottie Scheffler's caddie, Ted Scott, has reportedly earned more than $5million this season

Scottie Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, has reportedly earned more than $5million this season

Earning $5.1million this year would have put Scott as a golfer in the top-20 money earners on the PGA Tour, all for holding the clubs and walking the course with Scheffler.

Scott never swinging a club once would have put him ahead of golf stars such as Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.

Scott has only been the caddie for Scheffler for a few years, after retiring as Bubba Watson’s caddie in 2021. He was eventually talked out of retirement and found the best meal ticket ever.

Scheffler’s caddie knows how ridiculous it is he is making more than $5million this year for his profession.

Of Scheffler’s 20 events this season, we won eight, with only three tournaments where he did not finish in the top 10.

Casemiro determined to stay at Man United and fight for his place with £375k-a-week midfielder to REJECT any offers to move to Turkey despite horror display against Liverpool

Casemiro is determined to fight for his place at Manchester United and will reject any offers to sign for Galatasaray before the transfer window closes in Turkey next week.

The Istanbul club are weighing up a move for the Brazil midfielder who was substituted at half-time in United’s defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday after his mistakes led to two goals by Luis Diaz.

It was the latest setback for Casemiro whose form has dipped since an outstanding first season at United following his £70million move from Real Madrid in 2022.

The 32-year-old has been left out of Brazil’s squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

His place at United is under threat from Manuel Ugarte after the Uruguayan arrived in a £50.5millon deal from Paris Saint-Germain last week, but it’s understood that Casemiro has no interest in leaving Old Trafford at the moment.

Did Bruno Fernandes’ secret tactic spectacularly backfire? Or did referee Anthony Taylor hinder Man United as fans rage after dreadful Liverpool defeat

Manchester United fans have raised questions over whether the positioning of referee Anthony Taylor in Sunday’s defeat against Liverpool stopped the hosts from playing their best football.

Erik ten Hag‘s side were humiliated by their rivals at Old Trafford as Luis Diaz and Mo Salah combined to score three goals without answer in front of a booing United crowd.

Defeat see’s United head into the international break with just one win and two defeats from their opening three Premier League fixtures and their performance against Liverpool has come in for fierce criticism.

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was at fault for Liverpool’s two opening goals as he twice gave possession away cheaply inside United’s half that led to Diaz scoring twice in the first-half.

A dismal second 45 minutes saw United carved open by Liverpool as the INEOS-backed club underwhelmed in a match that bears similarities to last season’s struggles.

However, footage has now showed that Fernandes was potentially limited from making key passes in decisive moments of the match due to the space occupied by referee, Taylor.

The Portuguese playmaker previously revealed how he matches runs made by referees to escape the view of opposition players when he is trying to exploit space in attacking areas.

Speaking in a former interview with The Athletic, Fernandes said: ‘Normally, I call these the ‘referee zone’.

‘Because nobody marks the referee. Sometimes, this is what the coaches say to players who play between the lines, or the wingers who want to come inside, or the striker when he wants to drop.

‘It also depends on the way an official referees the game. Mike Dean, for example, ran very centrally, which was probably for him better to see the game, but for us as a No 10, that cannot be our position, so you have to find out where you can go,’ he added.

But, his bizarre tactic may have caused more harm than good against Liverpool when he found his path blocked by Taylor when attempting to make a pass in behind for Garnacho to run onto.

The match was goalless at the time when Fernandes sought to play the lobbed ball, but when the moment came to fruition, Taylor attempted to duck out of the way and Fernandes instead had to pass back to Casemiro. He lost the ball and Liverpool scored seconds later.

Taylor’s awkward positioning was also referenced when Casemiro lost the ball in the build-up to Liverpool’s second goal. The match official was in the direct line of Casemiro’s vision and partially blocked his view of Zirkzee who was ready to receive the ball.
