NFL fans fume at Taylor Swift-heavy Patrick Mahomes interview during Chiefs weather delay: ‘Talk football!’

The Chiefs’ opening night win over the Ravens on Thursday was delayed by 20 minutes due to inclement weather, and NBC filled that time with a Taylor Swift-focused interview of Patrick Mahomes that infuriated some fans.

Mahomes spoke with NBC’s Chris Simms in a pre-recorded interview that ran 25 minutes, but the conversation was apparently edited to largely center around Swift – the girlfriend of Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce – and some supporters were none too pleased.

‘Sweet f*****g Jesus, why are we talking about Taylor Swift on an interview with Mahomes,’ one wrote on X. ‘I don’t give a damn about how cool it is that Travis is dating her. Talk football and only football!

‘It’s one thing to show her during the game sometimes, but for Taylor Swift to have her OWN segment in a Mahomes interview and have NBC advertise the Eras tour in between plays is f*****g crazy,’ another wrote.

‘She’s being pushed way more than a casual WAG of a player would it’s getting blatant.

And a different fan added, ‘Why are we discussing Taylor Swift in a Patrick Mahomes interview on Thursday night football, please ENOUGH.’

A full version of Mahomes and Simms’ conversation was posted to the NFL on NBC YouTube page last week, with Swift only being discussed in the last three minutes of the chat.

However, it appears NBC aired an edited segment of the interview on Thursday.

‘I think it’s been cool to see the girls and the women that have really embraced watching football. I know being a girl dad, how cool it is for me to see like these little girls – these daughters – and how much they love to spend time with their dad, watching football,’ Mahomes said in the video.

The passer also gushed about how ‘genuine and cool’ Swift was – and even her football chops.

‘She’s really interested in football, and she asks a lot of great questions. Started drawing up plays. We might have to put one in.’

Swift of course has become a major figure within Chiefs Kingdom and more broadly the NFL since beginning her relationship with Kelce last year.

And the pop star was in attendance on Thursday as the Chiefs opened the season with a 27-20 win over the Ravens.

Swift’s boyfriend Kelce had a rather quiet game as he caught three passes for 34 yards.

Nonetheless, the two-time defending Super Bowl champions hung on for the win after a late would-be touchdown by the Ravens’ Isaiah Likely was deemed out of bounds.

After watching the game alongside Travis’ family in a private suite, the couple was seen leaving Arrowhead Stadium hand-in-hand in the early hours of Friday morning.

Mysterious texts for NFL player Ricky Pearsall end up on 12-year-old’s first phone after San Francisco shooting

A 12-year-old boy in Arizona, who just got his first phone, has been receiving a flood of texts meant for San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall.

The former ASU Sun Devil and Tempe native’s old phone number was recently reactivated for Lincoln Schreck.

After Pearsall was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in San Francisco on August 31, Schreck’s phone was bombarded with messages wishing the receiver a quick recovery.

‘When I first got the first weird message, I just shrugged it off as nothing,’ the boy said. However, the family started connecting the dots and realized the previous owner of Lincoln’s number.

‘They were like, you know, hope he had a good time at camp. We didn’t put it together. The camp was probably training camp for the NFL. We thought it was some kid going to summer camp,’ Lincoln’s mom, Lindsay Schreck, said.

The last hint came when Lincoln received a ‘get better soon’ text on the day Pearsall was shot.

Lincoln claimed that he was receiving messages from ‘anywhere and everywhere’ all over the country. The family counted at least 100 texts meant for the 49ers newcomer.

When Lincoln finally texted someone saying ‘wrong number’, they finally got a confirmation.

‘It was an NFL player’s former number and that he just got shot, and you’re probably getting a lot of random texts,’ Lincoln shared about a text exchange.

‘Just trying to get their message to whatever they thought this was, Ricky’s number, and to tell him that they hope that he gets better and that they know it’s a tragic time. They are just praying for him,’ Lincoln said.

‘I want Ricky to know that the world loves him apparently because everybody, it’s just, ‘I’m praying for you,’ ‘We love you, man,’ ‘Just hope you get better,’ and we all do hope that.’

Fortunately, Pearsall made a quick recovery after the bullet missed his vital organs despite exiting on his back. The rookie was seen in practice just days after the incident.

The 49ers placed him on the reserve/non-football injury list on Monday, sidelining him for the first four games of the season. The Super Bowl contenders will open their season against the New York Jets on September 9.

US Soccer executives ‘flying to Barcelona TODAY’ to finalize Mauricio Pochettino’s deal to take over the national team… with announcement expected in next 48 hours

US Soccer’s reported agreement to hire Mauricio Pochettino as its next men’s head coach is set to be finalized imminently, according to a new story.

News broke last month that Pochettino – most recently the manager of Chelsea -would coach the USA, but no official announcement has been made since.

However, World Soccer Talk has reported that US Soccer executives are travelling to Barcelona today to get the deal over the line, with an announcement expected within the next 48 hours.

The site added that Pochettino will film a short video to be released with the official announcement, as well as finalizing the necessary contracts.

Pochettino is not yet in place for the team’s friendlies vs. Canada and New Zealand this international break, so interim coach Mikey Varas is leading the squad.

Breaking News: How much did Disney get key approval for new Disneyland expansion new project? Could you quess?

Disney has finally received approval from the city of Anaheim for its $1.9billion expansion of the Disneyland park that will bring Zootopia and Toy Story to life.

The Walt Disney Company received unanimous approval from Anaheim City Council at a meeting that began on Tuesday evening and stretched into Wednesday.

The plan marks a historic moment for the park – and promises to give Disneyland the biggest and most significant makeover since the 1990s, when the California Adventure park was added.

The council’s decision to approve was 7-0 and involved over 200 attendees at the meeting, ranging from residents to Disney employees as well as city officials, business associations and union groups, the LA Times reported.

‘Tonight is a decision that has weighed very heavily on [my] mind,’ Mayor Ashleigh Aitken said during Tuesday night’s meeting.

Anaheim is known mostly as the home of the iconic theme park. ‘When Disneyland grows, Anaheim thrives,’ Aitken said in a statement.

‘Last night’s vote to approve the DisneylandForward Plan will benefit Anaheim for decades to come.’

Disney previously announced in 2023 that they will spend $60billion over the next decade on its parks and cruise lines. That includes the planned expansion in Anaheim.

However, there was some resistance as some residents expressed their angst at Disney’s plans for expansion – which will include the behemoth company privatizing some nearby roads, which could cause more chaos in the surrounding area as more visitors flock to the park.

Local residents insist that they use one road, Magic Way, frequently – while Disney is countering that the road is chiefly used by tourists and company employees.

According to Disney consultant Joe Haupt, 99 percent of the drivers who use Magic Way are heading to Disneyland.

Another Anaheim local expressed his anxieties about the city’s overall relationship with Disney during a previous city council meeting.

He noted that the city was $4 billion in debt, and accused the councilmembers of being in the pocket of special interests.

‘Disneyland, we pay $1 billion,’ the resident said, clutching a pen. ’40 years we have to pay off a $1 billion bond.’

The resident stared at the council and continued: ‘Disneyland has not paid one penny of a tax to the city of Anaheim. Their philosophy is just be grateful that we are here.

‘But they are worth $210 billion,’ the man fumed. ‘And we’re $4 billion in debt.’

The DisneylandForward plan gives Disney the flexibility to redesign the resort – including the original Disneyland park, the California Adventure addition as well as the Downtown Disney business district.

Disney Forward seeks to improve the Anaheim theme park by adding ‘adventures like those underway at Tokyo DisneySea and Shanghai Disneyland,’ the company wrote.

Frozen fans will soon have the opportunity to visit Arendelle, the home of Elsa and Anna, in the California theme park.

The planned ‘Frozen’ land will offer a thrilling boat adventure and feature a restaurant set inside a castle, providing enthusiasts with an immersive experience in the magical world of Frozen.

A proposed Rapunzel’s tower will overlook a forest where Rapunzel fans could board gondolas to the lantern festival to live ‘best day ever’ alongside Flynn.

A land inspired by the beloved story of Peter Pan will feature a boat ride following the Lost Boys down a river; and a journey to the middle of Pixie Hollow, where Tinker Bell and her fairy friends live.

The California theme park also has ambitious plans to transform into a hub of immersive entertainment through cutting-edge technology.

Disney will bring stories to life through innovative roller coasters like those found in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Shanghai Disneyland.

Disneyland is committed to paying a minimum of $1.9billion and potentially up to $2.5billion over the first decade.

If the additional $600 million is not spent within ten years, the company will invest an additional $5million in street and transportation improvements.

Besides multi-billion dollars invested on attractions and entertainment, the company is set to pay $40million to clear parts of Magic Way, Clementine Street, Gene Autry Way and Hotel Way for the proposed theme park expansion.

A 17,000-space parking structure will also be built with direct connections from the Santa Ana Freeway under the proposal.

The proposed parking structure will be larger than the existing Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures combined.

Roads will be widened and pedestrian bridges connecting theme parks and restaurants will also be built as part of the project.

Disney Global Development Vice President Rachel Alde said the transformation will make the park a more ‘immersive’ experience.

California Governor Gavin Newsom weighed in on the decision, saying the investment would ultimately drive billions of dollars in revenue for the local community of Anaheim and the state as a whole.

‘Disney is making it clear that California is its home because we provide the welcoming and supportive environment where businesses want to expand and create more jobs,’ Newsom’s statement read.

Iconic Disneyland restaurant to be demolished after 20 years – and fans are delighted

An iconic Disneyland restaurant is facing demolition leaving fans devastated.

Tortilla Jo’s, a fan favorite restaurant in the mall outside Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, will face the wrecking ball after Disneyland filed a permit to demolish it on Thursday.

The permit has not yet been approved by the City of Anaheim, the San Francisco Gate reported – but it is thought to be a formality.

Tortilla Jo’s closed earlier this year after 20 years of business in the area known as Downtown Disney, an area focused on restaurants and shops next to the theme park.

Disneyland visitors gave the thumbs up to the move – since the now closed restaurant was dated.

‘Good, Downtown Disney sadly gives dead mall vibes, which is surprising for how much foot traffic it gets!’ one Reddit user said of the news.

‘Maybe they will replace it with a Rainforest Cafe,’ another suggested.

Tortilla Jo’s is set to be replaced by two restaurants from chef Joe Isidori to complement the one he already operates in the area.

One of these will be a steakhouse with a ‘warm and sophisticated ambiance,’ Disneyland said in a statement announcing the changes.

The steakhouse will serve prime beef, seafood and chopped salads.

The other will be a barbecue eatery with a ‘culinary approach to quick-service’ focusing on brisket, pulled pork and moonshine cocktails.

The area will also see the Earl of Sandwich restaurant close in 2025 too.

That restaurant will eventually be moved to another building and its current location will be taken over by the long-awaited Porto’s Bakery.

The mall’s revamp will also see the arrival of new shops, including Avengers Reserve selling Marvel merchandise near the Lego store.

The D-Lander Shop, featuring ‘quintessentially Southern California boutique celebrating trend-forward fashions for Disneyland fans,’ is also set to open but with no specific timeline yet known.

Marceline’s Confectionery, currently under construction, will also reopen as Disney’s Wonderful World of Sweets.

In February, Disney said it was hiking the prices of some of its tickets for 2025.

Earlier this summer Disney also revealed an overhaul of its theme park ride queue program to allow visitors more freedom to plan ahead.

In its latest update visitors can now pick their park rides up to a week in advance, whereas before guests had no choice but to make their selections on the day of travel.

Disney previously announced in 2023 that it will spend $60billion over the next decade on its parks and cruise lines. That includes the planned expansion in Anaheim.

A naked man led Washington State cops through the streets and backyards of a leafy suburb, before finally being cornered by officers using a K9 police dog.

Jacob Matthew Patterson was already on the run from police when they finally tracked him down in Frederickson, south of Tacoma, sleeping in a stolen Ford F550 truck.

But just as officers were about to prevent Patterson from escaping by deflating his tires, he suddenly awoke and was able to flee, starting the vehicle, leading to a high speed chase.

He finally crashed in Seattle’s Rainier Valley neighborhood but the chase was not over yet.

With the NFL season hours away from kicking off, fans will budget football-related expenses, including food and beverages when attending games on-site.

As fans take their jerseys out of the closet and light up the grill for tailgates, Sportscasting ran the numbers to see how much fans have to pay on average for a beer and a hotdog at every NFL stadium.

Their data suggests that fans will pay an average of $15.02 for a hotdog and a brew for the 2024 season.

After surveying all 32 NFL teams, Sportscasting found that the most expensive beer in the league costs $12 a pop and can be found at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Fans can also expect to pay $12 for a cold one at the Levi’s Stadium while watching the San Francisco 49ers. A total of nine franchises are charging between $11-11.99 for a beer.

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first player in football history to score 900 GOALS after cool finish for Portugal against Croatia

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player in football history to score 900 goals after his cool finish put Portugal 2-0 up against Croatia.

What seemed like a typical Ronaldo goal, the icon lurking in at the back post to tap home a smart cross from the left, turned out to be a momentous moment, with the 39-year-old passing the incredible landmark while wearing his national shirt.

Rafael Leao dropped deep on the left-hand side to collect the ball as the former Real Madrid man waited in the box, along with Bruno Fernandes.

The AC Milan star then produced a pinpoint delivery which was just begging to be prodded home – and ‘CR7’ obliged, wheeling off in celebration presumably aware of what he had just achieved.

Croatia have since pulled a goal back through an own goal from Man United‘s Diogo Dalot but this Nations League match will be remembered for yet another historic moment provided by the Portuguese legend.

Horrifying moment woman is struck by high-speed train while posing for picture in Georgia – and somehow survives

This is the moment a woman was hit by a high-speed train while posing for snaps – and somehow survived the collision.

Nini Lomidze said she was miraculously unhurt in the horror incident at a railway track near Tbilisi, Georgia.

Footage shows Lomidze, who was wearing a figure-hugging red dress, approaching the track as she prepares to pose for a photo.

The train driver can be heard sounding the horn to apparently warn the woman that she was too close whilst she stood by the tracks fixing her hair and straightening her outfit.

She struck a pose when the train was just a few feet away and within moments, the vehicle hit her upper body and viciously knocked her to the ground.

Two friends were heard screaming in shock as the woman was sent flying.

Commenting on her narrow escape, Lomidze said: ‘I’m fine, and thanks for your messages, they were very touching.

‘It was just an accident.

‘I did not know the track was in use and trains were in operation again.

‘I really didn’t know there was a high-speed train coming.

‘When I heard a sound and looked, it was nowhere to be seen.

‘Suddenly, in a split second, I looked up and realised it was going to hit me.

‘It isn’t the driver’s fault or anyone else’s.’

This comes after a 29-year-old mother was killed in a Mexican town by a vintage steam train back in June after standing too close to the track for a selfie.

Dulce Alondra, who was accompanied by her young son, was struck by a locomotive known as The Empress.

In a chilling video, she can be seen telling the child to stay low and away from the train.

But the single mum-of-one, who was standing up on a small hill, posing for a selfie, got a step too close and was decapitated.

Just prior to the woman being struck, a voice can be heard warning people to stay far away from the train.
